DIAMENTOR® - The Story of the Dose Area Product
50 Years DIAMENTOR- The Story of the Dose Area Product Meter
1959 - DIAMENTOR
It all started as an educational measure. Hence the name: The MENTOR, the notorious wise man of the odyssey for DIAgnostic radiology. The instrument was intended to show young radiologists in teaching hospitals the radiation load to the patient resulting from their examinations. For this purpose a novel measuring quantity was defined: The Dose Area Product had the advantages of indicating both the dose and the area concerned and being independent from patient distance thereby enabling measurement with an ionization chamber fixed to the collimator.
1974 - DIAMENTOR D
1998 - DIAMENTOR M4 KDK
2005 - DIAMENTOR C2
Remark
The instruments shown above are just a selection of representative samples of the DIAMENTOR line through the past five decades. Many more types - especially built-in variations - have been produced and are still available. A solution for every problem.
